Day 6, Girdwood Alaska
Last night after arriving by bus to Anchorage, we picked up a rental car for the duration of our trip. We went out for, all you can eat Crab legs at a local restaurant. After a much needed rest we drove this morning down to Girdwood, AK. Not much here in this little town set in a small valley with forests of trees. It's very secluded and absolutely beautiful. Our activity here started here with a helicopter ride, through the mountains and were dropped off on a glacier. They keep Idiorod dogs here. We met a few of the dogs and got to take a dog sledding ride around the glacier. After the ride we met with the puppies, drank hot cocoa, and flew back to the other side of the mountain. The next three nights will be here in this gorgeous Alyeska hotel, looking at our breathtaking view. Will post pics of the hotel grounds, when we have had a chance to walk around.
