Day 7, Whittier Alaska
Today we drove from Girdwood to Whittier to enjoy a Glacier day cruise. Only way into Whittier is from the ocean on a boat, plane or through the mountain via a one lane tunnel. The tunnel is used by the train as well as cars. Today's weather was cold and rainy, temp was 54. We loaded the cruise boat and enjoyed a prime rib and salmon lunch, while heading out to look at the glaciers. Our critter watch today produced a bald eagle and two otters. Pictures truly do not do the amazing views justice.

How majestic is that Bald Eagle?? Look at the size of those talons! They'd do some damage.
ReplyDeleteThat glacier is so cool...was it receding? as in global warming indicator # 47?

And of coure, the OTTERS! Who doesn't love otters???
