Jim and I left Phoenix this morning with a balmy 100 degrees, to come to a beautiful cool and sunny 64. There was no one in line at the Alaska Airlines baggage check in and with being at terminal 2 of the airport parking is close so no shuttles needed. We got upgraded to first class for our flight, can you say free breakfast including a Mimosa for me! Not to mention the leg room and the comfortable seating. We landed in Seattle, for the first leg of our flight. In first class they come tell you where your connecting flight is located. So both us and the people in front of us were going on to Anchorage. BUT just as our luck usually goes, the other people got to go from C12 to C9, and WE had to take a tram to the end of the earth. However, the view coming into Seattle is fabulous with snow capped mountains, and trees trees trees! So far the good outweighed any walking and tram riding we had to endure.
After landing and grabbing our bags, we arrived via shuttle compliments of the hotel, to where we are staying for the night here in Anchorage. We walked around the touristy area, and dined on a reindeer sausage from a street vendor in the park. We plan to rest now from our long day of flying (had to be at the airport at 4am). Will have to confirm tomorrow, but I looked it up and sunset is 11:30pm with sunrise at 4am. So good thing for those blackout shades in hotels. Tomorrow we head out on the Alaska Railroad to Denali. Which by the way we have been told his having forest fires! So wish us luck on that one. Not sure what we will be able to see, with the smoke and the fact that Jim forgot his glasses. The train ride is suppose to be about 8 hrs. We did upgrade there as well to the "firstclass" of trains. I guess the main perk is the domed seating car where we should get some great views.

It's so funny your luck re: connecting flights and the gates.. it IS true... How fun to have 1st class.
ReplyDeleteReindeer sausage??? does it taste like chicken??
You and Jim will have to get a nap in so you can capture an "Alaskan Sunset". I LIVE for black out shades..
All fires are extinquished and the smoke blowing in the direction opposite of Tammy and Jim. So sayeth the universe.
Who was in charge of packing Jim's glasses? Time for a trip to the local Alaska Walgreens for something to tide him over, lol.
Domed seating for the train... nothing too good for Pope and Popess Jim and Tammy...
You kids have a great time!!!
