Homeword bound

So we decided to splurge and upgrade to first class.  Although the $50 savings from not having to pay for checked bags really made it a total of $150 for the two of us to upgrade.  Although slightly disappointed in the whole experience.  No line at the ticket counter, so no perk of going through the "first class" lane.  Hardly, a line at the security, so same thing, no perk.  AND worse, the first class flight attendant did not serve us our drinks right away like they usually do.  We only got a little pack of snack that was already sitting at the table when we sat down.  Although, the woman that was scheduled to sit next to Jim traded me places so I could sit with him.  That was nice....and probably saved the guy that was suppose to sit with me an arm full of my nails.  ...did I mention, I HATE FLYING.  So then imagine my face, when the pilot made the announcement that not only was the flight going to be bumpy going OUT of Denver and coming IN to Phoenix, he said that due to that the flight attendants were only handing out water.  I'm pretty sure, I said out loud, "that had not apply to first class".  LOL....and it didn't.  So when she finally came around to get my drink order, I was at the "I NEED a glass of wine!"

Home safe, kid was well taken care of, babysitter didn't get too sick because of her cat allergy, and the house was still standing!  All is well.

Till next time.......nothing planned until Bethany graduates then it's off to Florida.

More of the same, nice cool temperatures and sunny during the day and rain at night.  We walked around Betty Ford Gardens.  We went up to the village to find they had a Art festival.  Rain at night was incredible, smelled so good.

We followed the day with a dinner out.  We had read about a restaurant that had wild game.  I ate the Quail dinner while Jim had a Ultra Game plate with Quail, Buffalo sausage, Venison chop, and Elk steak.

Happy Anniversary

As my son is home having a surprise party for his 1st anniversary on T, thrown by Sherri our Friend and ALLY extraordinaire, Jim and I are celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary.  We decided to take a drive farther west.  We figured we had time to go at least up the tram to an Adventure Park, in Glenwood Springs.  It was surprisingly hot up there!  We decided to do the hour long tavern tour and SKIP the swing ride that swung off the side of the mountain.

We finished off the night with a nice dinner at the upscale restaurant at the hotel/condo.  Happy 28th honey, and many more!

Friday July 20th, 2012

Today we just took in the views.  Temps, low 70's and sunny.  Rained later in evening.  The Vail Village was walking distance from our hotel/condo.  Lots of little shops and nice restaurants in this area.  Photo above is the view from our patio.

Thursday July 19th

Flew out of Phoenix.  Uneventful flight, which often happens when I've taken enough Xanax to sleep through.  I was asleep at take off, last thing I remember was pulling back, then next thing I knew the pilot was making the announcement to land.  We landed in Denver, and I thought, "oh no" this was a mistake, it was HOT there too.  Not quite as hot at Phoenix, but not the break from the heat we were looking for.  Got to the rental care place and on our way.  Two hour drive to Vail.  Beautiful drive, with mountains and TREES!!!!  Only those that join me from Phoenix understand the happiness trees create.  Got to Vail and got lost several times before finding the right hotel.  It's called Manor Vail.  Beautiful all around.  This was our condo.  Groupon special of $130 a night in the "off season".

It had a bedroom with walk in closet as well.  Not sure why I didn't take a picture of that.

Temp was in the high 60's, and starting to rain when we got there.

Off again!

I can't believe it's been 3 yrs since our anniversary trip to Alaska!  What memories.  We have now been married 28 yrs.  No big trips planned.  However, given that summer's are getting so unbearable, we will use the anniversary excuse to GET OUT OF DODGE.  So heading to colder country in Vail, Colorado, tomorrow.  Let the digging out of "winter" clothes and packing begin.  Daytime Highs Vail, CO during our visit 70, low 50.  Leaving, AZ High 108, low 85.   I think I will be fine with 70, not so much with the 50.

Oh yea....and get the Xanax, Tammy's got to fly!
